What Is Matcha?
Matcha means “powdered tea.” Normal tea is made of tea leaves infused in hot water. “Matcha” is the actual tea leaf finely powdered and made into a solution. This way you have ingested the whole tea leaf and is a much more potent form.
Matcha contains a high amount of antioxidants called polyphenols. These antioxidants have been linked to the prevention of heart disease and cancer, increased level of blood sugar regulation and anti-aging. Matcha can be used in cooking as well as snack food such as Matcha Cookie Dough Balls.
Matcha quality varies greatly, although you may be tempted, a low price tag can be a red flag for a poor quality product. You want your matcha to be fresh and pure. This means no extra additives such as sugar or sweetener.
