Get Your Furry Fix: A Day at Mountview Alpaca Farm in the Scenic Rim

Looking for a fun and unique day out with your family? Let me tell you about my recent visit to Mountview Alpaca Farm! Just a short drive south of Brisbane, this farm is nestled in the beautiful Scenic Rim region just outside of Canungra.

As soon as we arrived, we were charmed. The farm backs onto a beautiful creek with an adjacent vineyard. What a place to spend the weekend. The Alpaca Farm is open to the public and a simple walk in situation. They were all so well-groomed and eager for some attention. We couldn’t resist feeding them – a bag of alpaca food is just $3 in the on-site shop.

But the real adventure started when we decided to take one of these cutie patooties for a walk. The staff were incredibly helpful and matched us with the perfect alpaca for my young teenagers. You get 30 minutes with an Alpaca, we walked them round the paddock and stopped for a break, they took the opportunity to nibble on the bag of food supplied.

My kids we’re smitten with “Bluey” the Alpaca, even if the fluffy creature was a bit stubborn at times. 🤣

After our alpaca adventure, we headed over to Canungra for a walk and a spot of lunch. If you’re into bats, there is usually a massive colony near Lions Park. Watch your step through, you don’t want to be under one when the mess comes down.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly day trip or a weekend getaway, I highly recommend a visit to Mountview Alpaca Farm and the gems the surrounding area has to offer. Check out their website for more information on opening hours and costs: https://mountviewfarm.com.au/
