The Shannara Chronicles

The Shannara Chronicles

I binge watched The Shannara Chronicles during a bad case of throat cooties. Sick & feeling like death, this was one of the many series I finished and the BEST!

For those who have not seen it, The Shannara Chronicles are a fantasy drama series on Netflix.  The series is an adaptation from the books written by the author, Terry Brooks. The Shannara Chronicles is set in a fantasy world made up of four lands.

Everything is all lovely and dandy until the Ellcrys, a sacred Elf Tree starts carking it. All of these super things happen when the tree chooses Amberle to save the Elf Kingdom and all of the creatures living in four lands. Demons are the enemy.

Yes, Demons. Butt ugly creepy demons. They were my least favourite part of the series. There were times I felt like I was watching the Power Rangers with the CGI used to create the Demon scenes. Don’t let that turn you off though,

Reviews should never be 100% positive.

Overall this was an awesome first series. I love the Shannara Chronicles because your older kids can enjoy it too, with you, if that is their thing.

If you have a teenage girl she’s probably going to get a weird pink eye reaction when the young half elf, half human, Will, takes off his shirt. numerous times. I would be getting pink eye too, but I think I’m almost old enough to be his mother.

The reason I chose The Shannara Chronicles over a tonne of other shows on Netflix is that Manu Bennet never disappoints. He plays these roles so well. You might remember Manu Bennet from shows like Blue Heelers, All Saints and Water Rats where he appeared sporadically in guest roles.

My favourite role of Manu Bennets is Slade Wilson from Arrow, he plays a badass villain. This time, he is on the good side. A Druid named Allanon blessed with magic sent to help the Elves restore the Elcrys tree. The costumes in this show are AWESOME.

If you liked shows like Zena The Warrior princess in its day, you will love this. I would mention all of the cast and stronger detail about the storyline, but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
