60 Second Microwave Puffy Paint
Your kids will love this 60 Second Microwave Puffy Paint activity. Puffy paint is super easy and uses ingredients most people already have in the kitchen. Puffy Paint takes approximately 15 minutes to create and is easy to clean up. For different coloured puffy paint, you can add food colouring to your mix.
You will need paintbrushes, paint trays, a cup of brush cleaning water and a smock to do this activity unless you want a giant finger painting mess! The best painting surfaces for puffy paint are thicker pieces of paper or even better, cardboard sheets.
Playing with puffy paint is an awesome activity and has numerous benefits, the main benefit is that it’s creative, fun and messy!
Ingredients | 60 Second Microwave Puffy Paint
- 1 cup plain flour
- 3 tsp McKenzie’s Baking Powder
- 1 tsp McKenzie’s Australian Natural Sea Salt
- Water
Method | 60 Second Microwave Puffy Paint
Step 1: Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add enough water to make the consistency of a pancake batter.
Step 2: Divide mixture into four parts and place each into zip lock bags. Add a few drops of food colouring to each zip lock bag. “Squish” the mixture in the zip lock bag until the desired colour is reached.
Step 3: Rubber band the zip lock bag on one edge like you were icing a cake and snip off the very tip. Paint away. Best to use thick paper or cardboard to paint on.
Step 4: Once the painting is completed, place your son/daughter’s masterpiece in the microwave for 30-45 seconds and watch the puffy paint puff and grow!!! If the paint is still wet, place in the microwave for additional 10-15 seconds.
