Halloween. It’s creeping up and we have no costume.
Time to improvise.
In Australia, Halloween hasn’t quite caught on yet. Sadly, I don’t know that it ever will.
We have fun events in populated areas, but a lot of streets still don’t welcome trick or treating.
We pulled together this look for $6 at our local op shop.
The Cursed Mummy
- Old nightgown $3
- Long grey wig $3
- Facepaint
- Red food colouring (blood splatter)
- Old white Tshirt or cot sheet
The Hospital Gown
Cut the hem on an old hospital gown to size. Rub the gown in dirt or tea for a “dirty” effect.
Use red food colouring and spatter the gown with blood for a horror effect.
When dressing, wrap the excess of the hospital gown to create a straight jacket effect. You can easily pin this with a safety pin.
Makeup
Makeup is up to you. We went with blacked out eyes, stitched up mouth with a white baby powder base. In between the stitching I painted on some blood.
The Baby Doll
Spatter red food colouring on an old baby blanket, cot sheet or white T-shirt.
Wrap the baby up, use the hem cut off of the nightgown to tie around the baby.
tHe CuRsEd MuMmY ThEmE
Its a play on words, you got that right?
The tired eyes, baby doll, hospital gown.
Also known as a Mombie, The cursed mummy is like death warmed up.
She’s on about 2 hours sleep, and she has nothing left to say.
She still carries her baby around, because that’s her job.
