Enoggera Reservoir, Great For Kids, Pack Your Kayak! [VIDEO]

Enoggera Reservoir

Enoggera Reservoir, also known as Enoggera Dam is definitely one for the bucket list. If you are new to Brisbane, it’s somewhat of a hidden gem.

It’s a spot you will only really find if you are searching online for Brisbane’s top swimming holes. Even then, you might be reluctant to make the trip.

As far as dams go, Enoggera Reservoir isn’t the murky, leech infested water hole you might be imagining.

The water might not be crystal clear, but is a beautiful swimming spot with a view to die for.

The sun glimmers on Enogerra Reservoir like glitter. The swimming area is separated for your convenience and Kayakers can enjoy piece of mind, knowing they aren’t in anybody’s way.

If you don’t have your own, Kayaks and Paddle Boards are available for hire.

We ventured here during the school holidays. The Reservoir was busy, but nothing too overwhelming.

The grass was full of families enjoying picnics. Their was a fun ambience with the addition of people in floating swans, flamingoes and brightly coloured swim rings.

How To Get There:

There is a bus stop close to Enoggera Dam, however I don’t recommend walking with too much stuff. It’s still a bit of a trek.

Parking is available at the Walkabout Creek centre on Mt Nebo Rd.

Arrive early if you expect to get close to the walking track. If you have a Kayak and arrive later in the day, you may find it difficult to get it down to the water if you get stuck in the upper parking bays.

There are no picnic tables, barbecues or toilets down by the water.
