This has to be the best cleaning hack, resulting in a pair of clean white shoes.

Classic white sneakers like Converse, Dunlops or Adidas Originals are always in fashion. A pair of white kicks can be paired with jeans, denim shorts or even a cute casual dress.

They look great when they are new and clean, but they get dirty really quickly. Thankfully, there is a way to salvage your dirty white shoes.

Keep your white shoes looking fresh with these cleaning hacks.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/4 Cup Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Cup of Detergent (Napisan, Sard or similar is best)
  • Baby Powder

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the shoes with water.
  2. Scrub the baking soda/detergent mix into the shoes using a toothbrush.
  3. Let the shoes sit before rinsing again
  4. Machine wash the shoes
  5. Dust the shoes with baby powder after wash 6. Leave it to dry.
  6. Leave shoes to dry, so they don’t dry crinkled up, stuff the shoes with junk mail or a couple of pairs of rolled up socks.

If this doesn’t work for you, there are other ways to get your canvas white shoes clean. This is not recommended for leather or suede shoes.

5 Other Ways Clean White Shoes

  1. Try warm soapy water, Try this one first, before you break out the big guns.
  2. Baking Soda and Vinegar. Rub the baking soda all over the shoes first and then spray the vinegar on. Scrub with an old toothbrush until clean.
  3. Stain Remover – Buy the good stuff. Buy a decent brand of stain remover and let the shoes soak for a while, give them a scrub with an old tooth/nail brush,
  4. Bleach – If you have colored stitching or emblems on your shoes you will have to very carefully work around these.
  5. For yellowing shoes, scrub the canvas with toothpaste, then rinse off in warm water.
