Redlands Museum is a social history adventure

The Redlands Museum is packed full of fun and engaging history lessons for adults and kids.

The exterior of the museum presents itself as a small, perhaps even boring place to visit.

I promise It is VERY COOL!

Inside the Museum, visitors are able to experience a trip back through time.

For children, the highlights of the Redlands Museum are:

The Toy Room

Filled with toys that span several generations, some of which are still classics today.

The museum tells the story of toy craftsmanship. You can see how children’s toys have changed over the years.

Children can play with some of the toys or roleplay in the “pretend store”, using the old wire connected telephones to communicate with each other.

The Train

The Redlands Museum features an old train in which children can sit in the driver’s seat, ring the bell or sit in the passenger seats.

The train platform has photos and other historic items on display.

The Dolls & Dollhouse

The Dollhouse is such an incredible part of the Redlands Museums collection.

Peer through the windows to see just how intricate dolls houses were back in the day.

There are around 100 dolls in the large glass display, some dating back to the 1800’s.

Model Size Of Whepstead Manor

If you have lived in the Redlands for a while, you have probably heard the story of Whepstead Manor.

Legend has it that the place is haunted, with reports that lights go on and off, objects move around and ghostly presences have been seen and felt.

The Museum Model size Manor has a flickering ghost in the window, during an excursion I noticed almost all of the children found this really exciting.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that make an impression.
