Swimming Pools In Brisbane – The Redlands & Bayside Area
There are lots of swimming pools in Brisbane. The Bayside area hosts one of the biggest aquatic centres in Queensland.
This list also includes beach swimming, Aquativity, and tidal pools.
The Redlands is slowly developing better swimming facilities, with a rumored water play park being considered at Thompsons Beach.
New parks and facilities are always popping up around the area, I try to visit and review these as much as possible. If you have a park suggestion, feel free to comment and I will check it out!
Cleveland Aquatic Centre
Cleveland aquatic centre has an outdoor heated 50m and 25m lap pool, and an adventure area for families which features:
- Water Features
- Slide
- Rapid River
- Waterfall
- Spa
The pool has lifeguards in attendance for extra safety precaution, has a grass area, shaded seating and offers coffee and snacks at the kiosk. For more information click HERE.
The centre also has an indoor learn to swim pool.

Cleveland Aquatic Centre Waterfall Feature
Chandler Aquatic Centre
Chandler Aquatic centre has two indoor pools. During the holidays they both feature kid’s activities. The larger pool hosts a huge inflatable slide along with an obstacle course.
The smaller pool has a small obstacle course, an indoor waterslide and at times an outdoor jumping castle.

The Plantation, Gumdale
The Plantation offers a range of facilities including an activity pool with waterslides. The Plantation has a toddler wading pool & a pirate-themed playground.

Swimming At The Bay & Local Beach
The swimming areas mentioned below are some of the more popular areas in the Redlands.
As summer comes closer we hope to update this list with some new pictures of recent upgrades in the area of Brisbane Pools and swimming places.
The only swimming Enclosure in the Redlands (other than the islands ) is located at Redland Bay, Ruster’s Reserve, The Esplanade.
Raby Bay Foreshore
Raby Bay has a large sand foreshore and plenty of shady trees close to the water.
Recently upgraded seating areas have windbreakers installed. The play area has a liberty swing & the car park has just been upgraded in 2016.
Toilets are close to the play area and the foreshore. There is an off leash area for your dog along the foreshore area.
The esplanade has decent pathways for Cyclists and will take you all the way to the Marina. On the weekends you can enjoy Stand Up Paddle Boarding from 8am – 3pm
Thompson’s Beach, Victoria Point
WH Yeo Park, Thompson’s Beach has BBQ Facilities along with shaded seating areas. The foreshore has plenty of trees to sit under. During summer the water is often nice and clear with minimal weed.

Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside – Birkdale
Beth Boyd Park has the main playground area as well as slides, volleyball net, and a pirate ship structure at the foreshore.
The swimming area is occasionally weedy but on a clear day, it’s a wonderful place for kids to cool off. Full info, pictures, booking sheet, and facilities HERE.
Wellington Point Reserve, Wellington Point
Wellington Point is one of the Redlands premier swimming destinations. It’s popularity often means parking can be tricky. There is also the opportunity to walk out to King Island.

Outdoor Water Parks & Water Play Areas
Wynnum Esplanade – Whale Water Park (Since Been Upgraded)
Toilets, seated shading, electric barbeques, and change rooms are available. One of the busiest swimming pools in Brisbane, so arrive early on a weekend for a good spot.
Wynnum Esplanade has a huge tidal pool built in the depression era.
The pool has a small waterslide for the kids to splash in. The playground area features swings and climbing equipment. Kids can have fun on the giant blue whales which spurt water out of the top.

Brisbane Pools & Swimming Away From The Redlands
Seventeen Miles Rocks – Rocks Riverside Park
Rocks Riverside Park is a huge park with several different areas. There is a small wading pool on its own. Then a long line of small rock pools which follow each other with trickling water.
The park has all the major facilities such as BBQs, Toilets, and a dedicated car park.
The rock pools are fed at the top by a larger pool.
There are several areas with playground equipment as well. This is a VERY busy park so arrive early on a hot summer day.
