How To Make Unicorn Cupcake Toppers – Food Pick Style

You will need a Cricut, Silhouette, or a similar cutting machine to make these Unicorn Cupcake toppers. The Unicorn Cupcake Topper template includes quite a few styles paired up across two pages, you don’t have to cut them all.

The designs are already mirrored for assembly, all you need to do is the Print & Cut process.

What You Need

Cricut, Silhouette or Similar Cutting Machine

Plenty Of Toothpicks
White A4 Cardstock

Glue – Hot Glue is the fastest option

Tip: If you are using hot glue, I recommend a high temp glue gun. This is so you have a little time to get the toppers together before the glue rapidly dries.

If you have not used the print and cut setting on your Cricut before, I suggest practicing on something simple in the free projects area of Design Space.

Upload The Unicorn Cupcake Topper File To Design Space

Upload the PNG File and Choose “Complex” for the best print quality.

Place the image on your Canvas.

You’ll notice a yellow warning flag on the right-hand side. This is to tell you to resize.

You want the largest size possible as parts of these toppers – like the horn – is an intricate cut. Set your length to the MAX size of 23.495 or Max with 17.145cm.

Send Your Image To Print!

I prefer to use my printer’s system dialog when I print the image, otherwise, it comes out medium print quality.

If you are using an Epson Ecotank, you can change the print quality once the printer’s dialog pops up, minimize your Design Space window to find it. For a full-color print, the Epson Ecotank is as little as 10 cents a page.

Send It To Cut!

Now that you have printed your image, pop it on a Cricut mat. I use a standard mat, as the strong grip will tear card stock on removal. If you are looking to save money on Cricut supplies, RealLike mats are 1/4 of the price.

Make sure you are on the “Cardstock” setting.

Please note, if your blades are blunt, this will not turn out well. I buy blades in bulk HERE

Time To Assemble!

Assembling cupcake toppers is easy!

Lay one side image down, add some glue.

Position the toothpick in the middle and slap the other side on. The only downside with using hot glue is you have to be quick, personally, I still find it the best option.

Careful not to get glue on the exposed area of the toothpick, you don’t want that coming into contact with your food.
