Don’t Be That Instagrammer…Curtis Falls, Mount Tamborine.

Curtis Falls, Mount Tamborine is at the end of a moderate grade, family-friendly walking track close to Brisbane. It is suitable for all fitness levels and ages.

Busy On The Weekends!

Like most tourist areas, it’s popular with selfie-obsessed humans, often jumping the barricades to get closer to the waterfall.

We waited around 25 minutes to get a photo of the falls because one woman decided to sit on the log in front of the falls and talk on the phone while taking selfies of herself with another phone.

Don’t be that person. Nobody cares about your instagram, Patrice.

If you enjoy an uninterrupted hike, Curtis Falls is NOT the best hike on the weekends.

The falls are a short walk from the carpark, with the option to do a longer circuit which is around 4km.

There are times where the full circuit encounters obstacles such as muddy tracks and fallen trees, especially during the storm season.

The waterfall is small, but it’s worth the short trek because the lush rainforest is comparable to that of the Daintree.

Curtis Falls from the lower viewing platform

There is no swimming allowed at the bottom of the falls. This is due to glow-worm colony and Platypus conservation efforts. If you would like to see Glow Worms, you can do this at the Natural Bridge.

In the lower creek area, visitors are often enjoying a splash in the ankle-deep water, building pebble towers and enjoying a group photo on the footbridge.

Take your time, soak up the scenery. You will see some beautiful, interesting and quirky things.

Beautiful

The pictures speak for themselves. Curtis Falls is beautiful all year round, the best time is after some decent rainfall.

The walking track is listed as a moderate grade, the walk to the falls is the easiest part. You do NOT have to complete the whole circuit to see the falls.

Curtis Falls – Lower Creek

Interesting

If you look closely, you’ll see more than just a waterfall running into a creek.

Look up! You’ll see bats hanging from the tallest treetops, baby bush turkeys nesting in the bushland and ancient trees entangled in nature.

Quirky

You might see some quirky shapes built by nature, and some odd things left by man. The further you venture down the lower creek area, the better chance of spotting different wildlife.

Curtis Falls Carpark is located on 14-18 Dapsang Dr, Eagle Heights QLD 4271

There is a cafe located just outside the entrance and the town of Tamborine is nearby.
